I have contacted the council on behalf of a neighbour who are in their 90's (concil tennent for over 60 yrs in the same property) as they have a shed at the bottom of their garden which is'nt theirs and has been there since they moved in.

The shed was blown over and totally destroyed when we suffered from high winds, the neighbour was not even aware of this as she can't see the bottom of her garden and is completely immobile. Now I would've thought that the council would under the circumstances have been able to remove the shed but they have said under no cicumstances can they remove the debris.

I personally think that's a disgusting way to treat a resident especially one who has been a tennent of Moray for such a long period of time and has seldom asked the council for anything Evil or Very Mad What do you think?

Hi resident, I agree that it's a disgrace the council won't help this elderly resident yet they will bend over backwards to make sure the migrants are kept happy and get everything they need!!!

Hi folks,
Yes Resident I agree with you that the Council's treatment of this couple is appalling! However, we can't blame migrants! If the council got their priorities right we would have enough to go round for everybody.

All the best

I hope I can speak freely here... here goes... I think at least half the Council is staffed by Muppets alien

I phoned them about damp I found on my floorboards, by my front door, and on my wall, when I lifted my carpet and stripped the wallpaper to redecorate. The most I got from the woman I spoke to was 'where is it coming from and what would you like us to do about it?'. From her tone I got the impression she though I had just been sloshing a lot of water around for the hell of it Rolling Eyes

I told her I had no idea where it was coming from and could they send someone round to take a look. 3 weeks later, nothing! I phoned again, they had no record of my call but they said they'd send someone round.

Ok, when they eventually sent someone round and he lifted the carpet and lino in the kitchen cupboard he discovered that my immersion tank must have corroded and was slowly leaking along the floor broads in the direction of my front door. In a couple of days time everything was good as new but you really have to hound them. I can't remember a single situation they've dealt with at the first time of asking. I honestly believe, to save on their budget, the Council deliberately ignore the first call you make, thinking that if it's really important you'll call again... or... half of them truly are just Muppets, positioned behind desks to take up space.

Speak as freely as you wish PB as I know myself it's not much fun waiting all day all week for a trades person that isn't coming..

We waited THREE years for the council to accept they had to replace a delapidated fence around our garden, and yes we are council tennents
The fence we got

The fences everyone else got

Almost everyone of our neighbours have commented on the state of it

Thanks... it's good to know we can speak our mind (without being libellous of course) thumbleft

I don't want to get a rep as a Council basher, they have a difficult job to do and maybe it isn't always made easier by some members of the public, but I'm not going to sit back and let them squander my Council Tax on employing staff who can't grasp the fact that they should be working for us (the general public) and not working to make their own job easier Rolling Eyes

Walk into any professionally run business and before you even have the chance to smile at one of the staff they'll be smiling back at you. Walk into the Council Offices in Elgin and you'll be lucky if you're met with passive indifference. Anciently go to the wrong desk and expect to receive a frown thumbdown

Ok, just to redress the balance a little, I have had dealings with council employees who have been genuinely open, friendly and helpful but this still strikes me as unusual given the lacklustre performance of their colleagues.

Hi everybody,
Polar bear - first of all welcome to the forum! Secondly, I don't think you have to convince anyone of the head banging you have to do to get something done by the Council. I phoned them 3 years ago and asked for somebody to come and clean my gutters as there was plants growing from them. I was informed that they no longer did this 'on demand' but that they were going round everyone's property in turn. I'm still waiting. We had to wait 5 years for a fence between my garden and the property next door and only after I kicked up a fuss was this done. If anybody has problems similar to yours, in the future, you should inform them that they are legally obliged to keep your property wind and watertight. If they ask what you expect them to do about it just inform them that you expect them to fulfill their legal obligations and if they don't do it in a timely manner you will be speaking to a solicitor. That should concentrate their minds wonderfully!
All the best
Norma

Hi Folks,
I'm glad to let you know that since being contacted by a member of this forum who is employed by the council that my elderly neighbour has had the derelict shed and all contents removed from her garden courtesy of Moray Council Laughing If this turns out to be the only thing this forum does then I'm happy enough Thumb
